But then the second season, subtitled “The Next Betrayal”, was yanked from the schedule after 9/11. The rest of the season eventually got put back on the air in 2002, but by then, viewers weren’t really paying attention to it. Frankly, they never noticed that it was back on the air. So as they were contemplating the future of The Mole, they decided if they were ever going to be able to come back for a third season, they needed to revamp it in someway that it would boost its Nielsen numbers. Thus, they decided to revamp it, ditching host Anderson Cooper and turning it into a game for celebrities. The third season, titled Celebrity Mole: Hawaii, premiered in 2003. While they were able to boost their ratings, there was some divided opinions as to whether it was any good. Some admit that the celebrities made the game entertaining, others debated that it might have sacrificed the charm that made the first two seasons underrated.
