The Challenge: Rivals 3 – Season Recap

My name is Turk182, and this is Reality TV Guide, where we came to blah blah blah. I’m amazed by the fact that I’m even doing this recap. I mean, seriously? Does anyone even care at this point? Does anyone really care to see me go on yet another rant about a bad season of The Challenge and how much the new era is absolute trash? I’ve talked about almost everything so far. I’ve talked about the good seasons, the bad seasons, the mediocre seasons that got wedged in between, and now, I’ve hit the point where I have to ask myself: what’s the purpose????? I literally have nothing to say now. The only thing that I can possibly say is that longtime fans, online recappers, former network execs and employees, former cast members, and even Nielsen ratings have loudly proclaimed that we have passed the peak of The Challenge a long time ago. And yet, for reasons that are beyond mine or anyone’s understanding, there are still new seasons of this corporate, whitewashed product that’s trying to cash in on a pointless, nonexistent popularity craze! HOW ON EARTH DOES THIS KEEP HAPPENING?

Apparently, there’s an elephant in the room somewhere, and it’s my job to uncover it. This is The Challenge: Rivals 3.

There has never been any season more lazy, more desperate, more monotonic, more blatantly obvious of a last-ditch, cash-grabbing bag than this. It’s remarkable how this long-running reality show is under the assumption that the 5-year old Rivals 1 is the highest point of their existence. I loved Rivals 1, I even tolerated Rivals 2, but this confirmed a fear that I’ve suspected for a while now. The success of Rivals 1 replaced all the great memories of the previous seasons, and they’ve been trying to milk out every last cent out of it until it’s dry, and it dried up not too long ago. This season is so uninspired, so unoriginal, so lacking in logic and effort that I refuse to do a recap of Rivals 3 for you today. Instead, I’m going back in time to do a recap of Rivals 3 for you in the year 2008.
