The Challenge: Battle of the Seasons 2012 – Season Recap

Oh, yeah! The Real World/Road Rules Challenge: Battle of the Seasons! This was the shit! In 2002, Battle of the Seasons aired on MTV. It brought in pairs from every season of The Real World and Road Rules and pit them against each other.

With a season that epic, you’d think that MTV would take a lot of effort into a sequel to Battle of the Seasons. That didn’t happen. The first Battle of the Seasons paved the way for more game formats to get introduced, and each of those got sequels before Battle of the Seasons. Over time, fans kept requesting a sequel to Battle of the Seasons, thinking that they were going to go back to the old days of the show. By the time it did arrive, it was 2012. So fans had to wait a full decade for a sequel to a Challenge season. At that point, anyone that forgot that that the first Battle of the Seasons existed had gotten too old to watch MTV, and those that did remember the first Battle of the Seasons ended up tuning into a show that had no Miz, no Coral, no Veronica, no Beth, they didn’t even have their successors, such as Johnny Bananas, Kenny, Evan, or CT. On top of that, since Road Rules was no longer in production, they had to name this “The Challenge: Battle of the Seasons“. No number 2 on it.  No “Real World/Road Rules“. At this point, we have to call this “Battle of the Seasons 2012“. And on top of that, they came up with a whole new format and rulebook. Which means that this sequel to Battle of the Seasons carries over nothing from its predecessor.

Seeing that we’re in the midst of THE CHALLENGE MONTH, it’s time to witness the war between new school and no school. This is The Challenge: Battle of the Seasons 2012.
